Modular Homes: Cheaper Now and Later – Part 1
Modular homes are custom-built homes that are put together in large units, transported to the site, and attached together. They are not mobile homes. They are regular homes, custom built, but they just happen to be built somewhere else.
This concept may be new to some and one of the biggest benefits that always surprises people is the cost savings. Quite simply, a modular home is cheaper to build than a home built onsite and it is cheaper to live in. In this post I’m going to talk about why it’s cheaper to build. And in the next post I’m going to talk about why it’s cheaper to live in.
Modular homes are cheaper to build because they are built as large units, along with several other homes, in a controlled environment by a group of professionals. This means that the building materials are bought for a bulk discount and there minimal waste.
Then, the units are transported to the site and put together there in just a day or two. This is cheaper than having heavy machinery chewing up the landscape for several months… especially in the current economic with its skyrocketing fuel costs!
Stay tuned to discover how modular homes are cheaper to live in.
